In an August 21 audit of the Appliance and Equipment Standards Program, the Department of Energy Office of the Inspector General urged the department to improve enforcement procedures. The Inspector General said the department needs to develop policies to better examine the market for compliance issues. The report found that $5.6 million has been collected for non-compliance since 2010.
