• The Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) enforcement efforts continue to rise. Earlier this month, ICE raided a poultry processing plant in South Carolina. The raid resulted in arrests of more than 330 illegal workers. The federal investigation of the plant’s hiring and employment practices preceding the raid had already resulted in criminal charges against a number of plant employees, including supervisors and at least one HR manager. 
  • A U.S. District Judge has issued a judgment preventing the City of Farmers Branch, Texas from enforcing a local ordinance requiring landlords to verify their tenants’ immigration status in the U.S. Farmers Branch intends to implement another immigration-related measure – requirement for prospective renters to obtain a rental license from the city.
