The Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC) has published final draft versions of national occupational standards (NOS) for providing retail advice on securities and derivatives and for providing advice on securities and derivatives in the non-retail market.

The NOS for providing retail advice on securities and derivatives has six units comprising:

  • SDR01 Maintain personal and professional development in securities / derivatives.
  • SDR02 Follow the initial contact process with the retail client in securities / derivatives.
  • SDR03 Gather information from the retail client in securities / derivatives.
  • SDR04 Carry out appropriate and ongoing administration for the retail client in securities / derivatives.
  • SDR05 Undertake analysis and provide advice for the retail client in securities / derivatives.
  • SDR06 Provide an ongoing service to the retail client in securities / derivatives.

The NOS for providing advice on securities and derivatives in the non-retail market has five units comprising:

  • SDNR01 Maintain personal and professional development in securities / derivatives.
  • SDNR02 Make contact with the client and gather information relevant to the securities / derivatives non retail market.
  • SDNR03 Open an account and carry out appropriate administration relevant to the securities / derivatives non retail market.
  • SDNR04 Undertake an analysis and provide advice relevant to the securities / derivatives non retail market.
  • SDNR05 Provide an ongoing service relevant to the securities / derivatives non retail market.
