Brazil December 4 2016

The Brazilian Federal Police continues to fight against online piracy. In October, the Brazilian Federal Police initiated the second phase of Operation Blackbeard, an attempt to dismantle criminal organizations specialized in copyright infringements on the Internet. Sites such as Armagedomfilmes.biz, Filmesonlinegratis.net, Megafilmeshd20.org were removed from the internet. According to the police, these websites received an average of 64 million visits per month, almost 800 million per year, with more than 11,000 titles available for streaming. The individuals under investigation may be charged with the crime of creating a criminal organization and for violation of copyrights, with penalties of up to twelve years of imprisonment plus fines.
