In the week of the Tory conference it is perhaps not suprising to read of appeal decisions which will give heart to the faithful, but I'll mention anyway the appeal decision last week involving Fox Strategic Land in Sandbach, Cheshire.

Here the housing supply was well below 5 years. However, the appeal failed in order to avoid pre-empting the local debate. There was also a risk that developing the greenfield appeal site would put already approved brownfield sites at risk of not being delivered. The site was also best and most versatile agricultural land so that counted against also.

So in one decision, scores for localism, brownfield first and BMV. Now you can't say they aren't trying.....
