SEIU-United Healthcare West (SEIU-UHW) sent a letter to the Securities & Exchange Commission requesting that the agency compel Daughters of Charity Health System to issue a correction for statements the union finds misleading. The Daughters of Charity, which is preparing to sell several hospitals to Prime Healthcare Systems, told municipal bond investors that it enjoys a “great labor-management partnership” with the union. SEIU-UHW describes its relationship with the health system as “acrimonious and contentious” and believes investors should be fully informed. The SEIU-UHW has also requested the California Attorney General to block the sale. The SEIU-UHW represents nearly 3,700 workers at six Daughter of Charity hospitals.
