A significant number of bona fide educational establishments have, as a result of targeted measures to reduce net migration, decided in recent months to stop offering courses to international students. Where a sponsor makes a business decision to focus on domestic students and cease participation in the student immigration system, one of the effects is that the establishment becomes a 'legacy sponsor.' Unfortunately information is currently circulating that inaccurately suggests that businesses that have chosen to opt out of the system have been forcefully 'banned' by the UKBA from accepting international students. This is not accurate.
