Treasury issues data-sharing call for evidence: Treasury has launched a call for evidence on the benefits of greater data sharing and the use of open data in banking. The Government believes that greater use of data will increase competition in the banking sector and so benefit consumers. Included in the call for evidence is an outline of Government plans to create a freely-accessible standard for developing software that enables customers to share their bank data with other products and services they use. These Application Programming Interfaces allow two separate software applications to talk to one another and exchange information directly in a secure way. The call for evidence will close on 25 February. (Source: Can Open Data Deliver Better Banking Deals For Customers?)
