In order to ease growing pressures with the 3.5GHz band, the ACMA is looking at implementing new arrangements to maximise the band's future flexibility. It has released a consultation paper that identifies four options for the band when the current 3.4GHz band spectrum licenses expire on 13 December 2015.

The four options are to maintain the status quo, extend spectrum licensing into more or all of the 3.5GHz band, extend apparatus licensing into more or all of the 3.5GHz band or adopt a hybrid model involving an extension of both spectrum licensing and apparatus.

The closing date for submissions is 30 July 2014.
