Scott and Nancy Alexander, the former president and office administrator, respectively, for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 50 in Southern Illinois pleaded guilty of embezzlement and fraud and were sentenced to six months in prison, six months of home confinement, and three years of probation. Together, the couple stole more than $65,000—all of which must be paid back—using a union credit card for unauthorized purchases, manipulating payroll and vacation pay, and receiving excessive reimbursements.

Rocco Fazzolari, the former president of the United Industrial Services Union in New York, pleaded guilty to three counts of embezzlement from a labor organization and one count of embezzlement, and conspiracy to embezzle from, an employee benefit plan—each of which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. Fazzolari admitted to stealing more than $1.3 million from the union and its employee benefit plan, which he used to pay for personal items including spa treatments, a car, and medical expenses. He was ordered to pay the union and benefit plan nearly $1 million and is banned from being employed by a labor union or employee benefit plan for 13 years. Fazzolari’s sentencing is set for January 28, 2019.
