Bloom Energy, the California based natural gas fuel-cell company, has announced an intention to expend its operations to Newark, Delaware. According to a press release issued by Delaware Governer Jack Markell, the Company has chosen the site of the former Chrystler factory plant as the location of their 50 acre manufacturing hub. Delaware reports that an estimated 350 construction jobs could be created in 2011 in order to meet the intended production start date of mid 2012.
Governer Markell did caution that the deal is subject to a final agreement with Delmarva Power as well as the passage of enabling legislation and regulatory approval. However, the prospect of new jobs is encouraging news for the State and the local construction industry.
