Last week, the California Senate passed AB 1319, The Toxin-Free Infants and Toddlers Act. The bill would prohibit the manufacture, distribution or sale of baby bottles and sippy cups that contain more than 0.1 parts per billion(ppb) of BPA beginning July 1, 2013. California has been trying to pass similar legislation for the last few years but now it appears that it should get done with just a few days left in this year’s legislative session. The bill gained final approval from the Assembly yesterday. It will now be sent to the Governor for his signature. California would become the ninth state to pass legislation that bans BPA in baby bottles or children’s products.
