PCTs who wish to change their brand to “NHS [location]” have been given the go-ahead by the latest NHS brand guidelines published on 14 May 2009 which can be accessed here.
The new guidance also reiterates that while the brand and logo may change, the full legal name of the PCT will not. PCTs must therefore continue to use their full legal name as set out in their Establishment Orders on any materials produced by them (for example, it could appear in the first line of their address or at the bottom of corporate stationery). The full legal name must also be used in all commercial and legal transactions including bank details and legal documents such as contracts.
In order to rebrand, PCTs must first inform their SHA Director of Communications. Further guidance on the procedure is provided by NHS Identity and can be accessed here.
