Here is some good news for those of you that produce infosec products or provide infosec-related services. According to INPUT, a Reston-based provider of market intelligence, analysis, and other services for developing government business, contract spending on information security will grow at 7.9% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), rising $3.0 billion over the next five years. Citing the “one-two punch” of data loss and increased attacks (both foreign and domestic), INPUT’s “Federal Information Security Market Forecast, 2008-2013” predicts that government information security spending will rise from $6.6 billion in 2008 to $9.6 billion by 2013. The report mentions the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative (CNCI), the Air Force Cyber Command, and other initiatives as drivers behind this spending. See for more information.
