Ivory Coast recently was the object of two major reforms by the adoption, in first part, of its New Mining Code, and in the second part, of its New Electricity Code.
New Mining Code
On 25 February 2014, the Members of Parliament adopted the New Mining Code, which is intended to replace the Mining Code established by Law No. 95-553 of 18 July 1995.
New Electricity Code
Ivory Coast was one of the first Sub-Saharan African state to privatize its electricity sector. Independent electricity producers have an prominent place and Ivory Coast is under a development dynamic of private production in accordance with the New Master Plan of Production for 2013 to 2030.
On 27 February 2014, the Members of Parliament adopted the Law on the Electricity Code which is intended to replace Law 85-583 of 29 July 1985 organising the production, transport, and distribution of electrical energy.
