- On March 9, 2011, US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack unveiled a report on the effectiveness of investments USDA issued under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), including the Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP). The report is titled “The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act: Working for Rural Communities”, and can be found here.
- On March 1, 2011, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced that representatives from the agency will begin site visits to BTOP grant recipients as part of the oversight process. NTIA has posted a checklist, available here, of items that will be reviewed during these site visits. More information about these visits can be found here. - Quarterly financial reports and Performance Progress Reports (PPR) for Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) grant recipients are due April 30, 2011 for the first quarter of 2011.

- In addition, the ARRA, which provided the funding to NTIA, also requires BTOP recipients to file quarterly status and compensation reports no later than 10 days after the close of a quarter. These reports must be filed at www.federalreporting.gov.
