Major changes to the student immigration system designed to reduce the number of students from entering the UK and, according to the UKBA, crack down on the last remaining areas of abuse, were announced on 31 March 2011. As a result the Government and the education sector expect that many genuine businesses which teach legitimate international students will be unable to survive.

All private colleges and also those universities and business schools which do not have Highly Trusted Sponsor status will be subject to stringent limits on the numbers of international students they can enrol during the course of the next year. Because these changes are of such significance we have set out the key steps education providers are advised to take to protect themselves, in so far as possible, in our immigration education update which you can find by clicking here
