On February 10, Senate Bill 34 was introduced into the Ohio Senate, to require the Department of Administrative Services to create a health insurance program that allows municipal corporations, small employers and nonprofit corporations or associations to purchase for their employees the same policies or contracts provided to state employees. The Bill would enact Section 124.824 into the Ohio Revised Code. The nonprofit or other organization could charge employees for whatever portion of the coverage it chooses. The statute would operate with regard to “eligible employees,” defined as employees working at least twenty-five hours per week.
