Henderson Energy Advisory Team (HEAT) was recently formed in Henderson County, Kentucky. The goal for the advisory group is to push for alternative energy production, such as the development of coal gasification or liquefaction plants, ethanol production, and research into carbon sequestration. The group will consist of 15 to 20 members appointed by Henderson County Judge-Executive Sandy Watkins. State Senator Ridley commented in regard to achieving energy independence, "There's not what we could call the one silver bullet. It will take a multitude of things."
