The International Performance Assessment Center for Geologic Storage of Carbon Dioxide announced November 4 a draft standard for carbon capture and storage that could be a model for international guidelines. The standard, which is available for public review and comment until December 27, will provide guidelines for regulators, industry, and others involved with scientific and commercial carbon capture projects. The standard will be submitted to the Standards Council of Canada and American National Standards Institute in the United States for bilateral recognition and will be proposed as a model to the International Organization for Standardization.
