In order to assist with the effects of the recession on developers' programmes, the Government recently introduced a limited ability to apply for permission to replace existing permissions which are nearing the end of their life but under which development has not yet commenced (see our January edition of property update).

The fees for such replacement permissions are now substantially reduced to £50 for householder applications, £500 for major applications and £170 in any other case.

For applications dealing with non-material changes to planning permissions the fees are £25 for householder applications and £170 in any other case.
