FSA has written a "dear CEO" letter asking all firms that still sell or underwrite single premium PPI with unsecured personal loans to stop doing so as soon as possible and at the latest by 29 May. Dan Waters, speaking on the Competition Commission's remedies outlined FSA's response to the remedies, and how it would work on PPI in the future. He said he sees no reason a point of sale ban should decrease product choice nor that any customer will lose out as a result of the ban on single premium PPI. He explained FSA's aims to push firms to improve sales standards, limit and address consumer detriment and ensure customers are well informed. He also mentioned FSA's close work with FOS on addressing PPI-related complaints.
