Sens. John Kerry and Lindsey Graham published an op-ed piece in the New York Times over the weekend entitled, “Yes We Can (Pass Climate Change Legislation).” The Senator’s wrote, “We are also convinced that we have found both a framework for climate legislation to pass Congress and the blueprint for a clean-energy future that will revitalize our economy, protect current jobs and create new ones, safeguard our national security and reduce pollution.” They reach an agreement on four areas in the article:

  1. Climate change is real and effects our national security
  2. We must take advantage of nuclear power and CCS technology
  3. Climate change is an opportunity to break our dependence on foreign oil
  4. We can not sacrifice another job to our competitors overseas

It is their hope that this bipartisanship will lead to obtaining 60 votes in the Senate.
