On December 7th, the Joint Committee of the European Supervisory Authorities (which is comprised of the European Banking Authority, the European Securities and Markets Authority, and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority) published a report on the application of anti-money laundering/counter-terrorist financing obligations and the AML/CTF supervision of e-money issuers, agents and distributors in Europe. The report reviews member state implementation of E.U. AML/CTF requirements; identifies areas where differences in the national implementation of European legislation could affect the integrity of the AML/CTF regime; and recommends action by the European Commission to address inadequacies.
