In early October, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released an updated E-Verify User Manual for Federal Contractors and a new Supplemental Guide for Federal Contractors. The new versions contain essentially the same information as the prior editions, which were released in September 2009 when the federal contractor E-Verify regulation became effective, plus a few subtle updates. For example, the new Supplemental Guide provides information on how to provide proof of enrollment in E-Verify (page 5), provides clarification on what to do when a federal contractor decides to E-Verify its entire workforce (page 8), updates instructions for entering expired documents into E-Verify for existing employees who completed Form I-9 when their documents were still valid (page 12), and includes a new instruction chart for subsequent federal contracts which extend a company’s E-Verify usage requirement (page 15).
