FSA on the conference circuit: In the past week:

  • Ken Hogg spoke on how FSA would approach the regulation of mutuals in future. He discussed the business model and priorities of mutuals, and their response to FSA's letter on safeguarding policyholder interests. He said FSA wants to ensure proper protection for policyholders and that it will consult before the end of the year on any changes it plans to COBS 20. He then discussed Solvency II and the Retail Distribution Review; and
  • Lynda Blackwell talked on the future landscape for mortgage regulation. She looked closely at affordability assessments and urged responses to FSA's consultation on responsible lending which closes on 16 November. She said FSA would consult in November on distribution and disclosure.
