Beginning August 1, 2010, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) initiated a new automated return acknowledgement system for receipt of IRS 8038 forms filed in connection with issuances of tax exempt bonds.

As a result of the newly automated system, an acknowledgement in the form of a Notice CP152 will be sent directly to the issuer of the bonds when the return is processed by the IRS. This notice will provide information necessary for future contact with the IRS. The IRS advises issuers to begin attaching a copy of this notice to all correspondence and documents filed with the IRS relating to the 8038 form.

Please be advised that maintenance of this document, as with all correspondence from the IRS, should be a part of your established policies and procedures relating to post-issuance bond compliance and copies should be provided to bond counsel upon receipt.
