The Pew Center on Global Climate Change, in coordination with the Asia Society, has put together a report entitled, “A Roadmap for U.S.-China Cooperation on Energy and Climate Change.” A piece of the report reads:

If the United States and China can become active catalysts in bringing about a strategic transformation to a low-carbon, sustainable global economy, the world will take a giant step forward in combating climate change. The United States and China will also edge closer to energy security, protecting their environments and assuring greater prosperity for their citizens.

The report also suggests that the implementation of CCS technology is necessary if the countries are to reach emission targets. The group's recommendations regarding CCS are to conduct a joint CCS demonstration project, ensure any coal plants deployed are high-efficiency, develop regulatory frameworks for CCS to facilitate timely deployment, map geological storage sites, and conduct joint R&D efforts on new CCS technologies.
