As previously reported in several issues of the New Jersey eAuthority (July 2012, June 2012, and May 2012), several bills are pending that seek to, among other things, prohibit employers from seeking or requiring current or prospective employees to disclose their user names or passwords for their personal social networking sites (such as Facebook and Twitter). On September 20, 2012, the Senate Labor Committee modified its versions of the bills (S1915 and S1898) to conform to a bill (A2878) previously approved by the Assembly, which we discussed in the July 2012 issue of the New Jersey eAuthority. It is expected that one of the versions of this bill soon will reach the Governor’s desk.
