Following on from the review of child performance regulations published by the Department for Children, Schools and Families in March this year, children's minister Tim Loughton has confirmed that a full review of the law in this area will take place this autumn. He confirmed that the "antiquated" legislation relating to child employment will also be reviewed.

The review in March 2010 recommended a number of changes to current child performance law, including developing a new inspection and enforcement system and making it clearer which performances need to be licensed to take into account the increasing use of children in reality television programmes.
