Auckland Council has adopted its new solid waste bylaw which you can view here. The new bylaw includes a licensing system for waste collectors and operators of waste facilities which aims to optimise the recovery of resources, reduce the amount of waste that is disposed of and require waste data to monitor progress on the achievement of waste minimisation targets.  In addition, the bylaw contains provisions relating to kerbside collection, events and multi-unit developments, litter and donation bins, unaddressed mail and shopping trolleys.

The bylaw came into effect on 1 November, 2012, although some of the provisions will not come into effect until October 2013 or October 2015.
