The Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) recently announced the launch of a new Business Center portal at http://business.ftc.gov to help business owners, attorneys, and marketing professionals the tools they need to understand and comply with privacy and information security requirements and consumer protection laws that the FTC enforces.
The new portal provides access to the FTC’s privacy and information security regulations, enforcement actions and guides. The main portal also offers practical, plain-language centralized information about compliance with advertising, credit, telemarketing and myriad of other requirements. A series of short videos explain what businesses need to know to comply, and the business center blog offers latest compliance tips and information. For specific guides relating to privacy and security matters see: http://business.ftc.gov/privacy-and-security and specifically for a guide on protecting personal information see: http://business.ftc.gov/documents/bus69-protecting-personal-information-guide-business.
Companies can use the compliance tips in their newsletters and blogs, share the resources with their social and professional networks, use the videos for in-house trainings or presentations, and order free materials to hand out at conferences or community events.
