On 12 June 2014, the Competition and Markets Authority in the UK published proposed remedies regarding the private motor insurance market, following its recent investigation. The proposed remedies, aimed at increasing competition and reducing premiums for such insurance, include (a) information to be provided to consumers about the costs/benefits of no claims bonus protection, (b) better information for consumers about their rights following an accident and (c) a recommendation that the FCA examines how insurers inform consumers about motor related add-on products. Comments are invited on the proposed remedies until 4 July 2014.
