On November 28th, the CFTC requested public comment on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's proposed new Rule 1001, "Regulatory Reporting of Swap Data." Comments should be submitted on or before December 21, 2012. CFTC Press Release (CME). In light of CME's proposal, the CFTC staff withdrew parts of its "Frequently Asked Questions on Reporting of Cleared Swaps." The withdrawn material concerns the selection of a swap data repository for purposes of cleared swap reporting. Those matters will be considered in connection with CME's proposed rule.
