Of interest to members, senior management and officers will be the new ethical governance toolkit, which has been created by IDeA together with the Standards Board and the Audit Commission.
The toolkit aims to enable authorities to assess the "health of ethical governance" in their decision-making. In effect the Toolkit is a package of assessment tools designed to help authorities to find out how well they are approaching ethical issues and what they can do to improve the way they deal with them in future.
The package has four levels: a self-assessment, a light touch assessment conducted by IDeA, a detailed assessment by the Audit Commission and also the option for development workshops. By choosing a combination of these tools local authorities can increase confidence in their decision-making, decrease risk of investigation or litigation and improve the standard of their decision-making and ethical governance.
The toolkit is available here.
