Baldwins’ client CarbonScape is seeking to raise a minimum of $400,000 and up to a maximum of $1.5 million through the equity crowdfunding platform Snowball Effect. The offer, which has recently gone live on the Snowball Effect platform (https://www.snowballeffect.co.nz/carbonscape), will be open for 45 days, or until it reaches its cap.
Blenheim-based CarbonScape has developed pioneering technology that uses microwaves to rapidly transform renewable biomass (typically sawdust or wood chips) into high-grade carbon products including Green Coke for steel making. Their use of a renewable feedstock to efficiently produce Green Coke reduces overall carbon emissions compared to using traditional coke from mineral coal.
CarbonScape has won a number of international awards for their patented “green” technology and have an active research and development programme to explore this nascent field. They recently signed a supply agreement with New Zealand Steel to supply Green Coke and are aiming to raise capital for development of a pilot plant and further research and development.
Baldwins are proud to be associated with CarbonScape and wish them all the best in their commercial and environmental endeavours.
