As reported in the last edition of this newsletter, on March President Obama formally submitted the nomination of Ernst Moniz to be the next Secretary of Energy. Moniz, who currently serves as director of MIT’s Energy Initiative and as a member of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology and of the Energy Department’s Blue Ribbon Commission on nuclear waste disposal, served as associate director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and Under Secretary of Energy during the Clinton Administration.
