The Government is consulting on reform of charges and fees in the immigration system.  The consultation covers both fees and charges paid by individual applicants for visas and those paid by sponsors for "premium services".  The purpose of the consultation is to look at the options for ensuring that those who benefit directly from immigration and enhanced border controls (such as education institutions that sponsor migrants for study) make an "appropriate contribution to the end to end costs of the immigration system". The consultation document does not contain proposed fee levels, which will be determined as part of the annual review of immigration and nationality fees.

The consultation closes on 3 December 2013.  A link to the consultation document and response form is here.
