Expected to come into force with the Equality Act, the Statutory Code of Practice on Equal Pay is the guide to the provisions of the Equality Act 2006, which are intended to ensure that women and men receive the same pay and contractual benefits when they are doing equal work.

The guidance, drawn up by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, has already been approved by the Secretary of State. The Commission believes that the code will provide individuals, businesses, employers and public authorities with the information they need to exercise their rights, and meet their responsibilities, under the Act.
