Last week, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) posted its planned schedule for its implementation of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act). Because the Dodd-Frank Act requires the SEC to adopt many of its new rules, and deliver a number of studies and reports, by July 21, 2011 (one year after enactment), the SEC has outlined a staged calendar for implementation, with proposed rulemakings to be issued over the course of three periods -- October-December 2010, January-March 2011 and April-July 2011.
