There appears to be a substantial likelihood that the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) will be introduced in the House of Representatives within the next few days or weeks. Many thought it would be later this year before Congress would address this legislation. One blog is reporting EFCA could be introduced as early as March 9. In a videotaped address to the AFL-CIO union leadership closed-door meeting in Miami, Florida earlier this week, President Obama reiterated his support for EFCA: "We will pass the Employee Free Choice Act." Newly confirmed Labor Secretary Hilda Solis attended the AFL-CIO meeting. She has been a vocal supporter of EFCA. Employers need to seriously consider advancing the timeline for their plans on how to remain union free.
