Code of Practice on Workforce Matters in Local Authority Service Contracts withdrawn on 23 March 2011
The Government has announced the withdrawal of the two-tier code requiring public sector bodies which outsource services to require minimum contractual obligations from their suppliers in respect of staff who work alongside any staff transferred from the public sector body. The code is replaced by "principles of good employment practice", setting out six core principles of good employment practice for government, contracting authorities and suppliers. The two-tier code only applies to central government.
The two-tier code in relation to local government contracts has also been withdrawn following a review.
