TI has responded to the Government consultation on the use of Deferred Prosecution Agreements (DPAs) for economic crime. It supports the use of DPAs, but not as a standalone measure. It says there must be reforms to judicial scrutiny, sentencing guidelines and transparency of settlements before DPAs are introduced. It also stresses that bribery is a serious crime and DPAs should not be a soft or cheap alternative to full prosecutions. (Source:TI Responds on DPAs)
