Autonomous vehicle pioneers including Google, Ford and Uber told the California Department of Motor Vehicles this week that its proposed regulations for driverless cars are “overly restrictive” and potentially burdensome for manufacturers.

The Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets said in a workshop held by the DMV in Sacramento on Wednesday that while it supports creating consistent national guidance on "highly automated vehicle" regulations, the state’s draft deployment rules for self-driving cars on public roads have some issues.
