As immigration experts, we have witnessed a recent explosion in demand from overseas high net worth individuals looking to apply for a visa to live and work in the United Kingdom as investors and entrepreneurs.

A key requirement for such individuals to successfully remain in the UK is that they invest a portion of their wealth into a new or existing British-based business. Typically, visa applicants applying under the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) category will need to invest a minimum of £200,000 into a business, whilst Tier 1 (Investor) visa-holders are expected to provide no less than £1m of funding to the UK.

This presents an opportunity for companies in the Thames Valley looking for a cash-injection, whether it be for the purposes of weathering a short financial storm or fuelling longer-term expansion plans.

We believe there is considerable demand for investment opportunities in the Thames Valley which needs to be matched with the investor and entrepreneur opportunities that arise out of the UK’s immigration policy.

Beyond the obvious financial advantages, obtaining investment from individuals who are likely to have significant business leader credentials could also provide access to a useful knowledge source well worth tapping into.
