ESAs consult on PRIIPs KIDs: EBA, ESMA and EIOPA (together the European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs)) have published a discussion paper on Key Information Documents (KIDs) for Packaged Retail and Insurance-based Investment Products (PRIIPs). The paper is a first step toward RTS that the ESAs must develop. It focuses on the different sections of the KID, addressing specifically the challenges in the sections headed "What are the risks and what could I get in return?" and "What are the costs?". It assesses how to classify, aggregate and describe risk, and how to set out performance scenarios. It also considers the usefulness of producing an aggregated costs figure. The deadline for comments is 17 February 2015. There will then be a more detailed discussion paper followed by a consultation paper before the ESAs finalise the RTS at the beginning of 2016.
