Defra's Anaerobic Digestion Demonstration Programme is to provide £10m of funding to five projects to be built between now and the end of March 2011. The five have been chosen as they will demonstrate "cutting-edge technology" using the anaerobic digestive process to break down organic matter to be re-used for heat, power and transport. The successful applicants are: Biocycle South Shropshire, Blackmore Vale Dairies, GWE Biogas Ltd, Staples Vegetables and United Utilities and National Grid.
