ICE has marked the holiday season with its largest enforcement operation targeting foreign nationals with criminal convictions in the State of California. As a result of a three-day raid, 286 individuals with criminal records were arrested. According to ICE, the majority of those arrested were previously convicted for serious or violent crimes, including rape, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and sexual assault. Some of the individuals taken into custody are being removed from the U.S., and others are facing further prosecution. According to ICE, throughout the most recent fiscal year, its fugitive operation division made more than 35,000 arrests nationwide, with more than 3,500 of those taken into custody previously convicted of major violent crimes.
