It has been reported that a Thai national, Wanchai Mapamo, was convicted by the Magistrate’s Court of an offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act. It is reported that Deputy Public Prosecutor, Hjh Anifa Rafiza bte Hj Abdul Ghani, informed the court that the investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau revealed that on October 13, 2010, the defendant offered $100 to a police constable as an inducement not to take action against him for committing an offence under the Road Traffic Act. The offence is punishable under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The court sentenced the defendant to eight months’ imprisonment beginning October 16, 2010.
