Ofcom fined Playboy £100,000 for having inadequate age verification systems in place as part of their access controls.

Ofcom disagreed with Playboy’s argument that the use of a debit card was a sufficient mechanism for filtering out underage users. It is important to note that debit and credit cards were distinguished - unlike debit cards, the use of credit cards was deemed to be sufficient as an age verification tool.
